Easy moving to another Mac

Apple made it really easy to migrate from one Mac to another Mac. I just got my MacBook Pro recently and was dreading having to reinstall all my applications, but I didn’t have to. When I turned on the MBP for the first time, the Setup Assistant asked if I wanted to transfer everything from another Mac. I picked that option and followed the instructions.

All I had to do was put my old Mac (a MacBook non-Pro) into Target Disk Mode (boot while holding down T key) and connect the two computers with a FireWire cable. The transfer took about an hour or so, and when it was done, the new Mac had everything that was on the old Mac, including all my settings. It was basically my old computer in a new body.

The computer came with iLife ’08, which I did have to install. Can’t wait to try out the new iMovie!

By the way, I named the computer Silvia, after the Nissan Silvia. Now I need to find a Silvia badge.
