- Get a day job
- Do one illustration per month
- Reduce love handles
That’s good enough.
Shanghai flavored since 2008. Not a photographer.
Second shoot with Chesley after two years. Same location. Much smaller camera.
Photos of some items from the short lived but well received Mtn.ghost Quipment.
The Blue Dawn Studios staff have funny names like Andrew Ho and Wilfred Poon. Jeffrey Kou's name is boring.
Stan did an impromptu photo shoot of Lynzie Love and Bad Aby at his studio's lounge area.
Photos of gogo dancers Miss Diaz and Lady T in my home studio in Fremont, California.
That’s good enough.
The more I learn about the business of photography, the less I want to be part of it. I’ve said I’m getting out of it before and ended up getting back into it, but now I’m pretty sure it’s not going to be my career. (If you’re interested in becoming a professional photographer, you’re at the wrong blog. Try these instead: A Photo Editor, Photo Business News, Photopreneur.)
First of all, I don’t like being a salesman, but professional photography (stock, commercial, wedding, doesn’t matter) is more of a sales job than anything else. That’s something I should have known from the very beginning. I have enough previous experience in sales to know that to be good at it, it has to be major part of your life, 24/7, and I’m not willing to make that kind of commitment (or sacrifice, actually). In fact I’m pretty much antisocial so selling myself really goes against my nature.
I haven’t been to a DQ in the US in a long time, but I don’t remember them serving hot dogs. And check out their dining area! It’s a friggin’ lounge, but with Blizzards instead of booze.
Nothing new to report, except I’m flying to Shanghai on Monday. I’ll be back end of January. In the meantime I’ll still update this site from overseas, unless it gets blocked over there.
Updating this blog every other day is a little too much for me. I think I’m gonna reduce it to twice per week. My other blog, PhotogMoblog.com, will still be updated daily though, since I don’t have to write anything. It’s just random pictures. And for the rest of the month and January it’ll probably have lots of photos of Shanghai.
Oh yeah, anyone wanna hire me? I mean like for a job job. I’ve been freelancing for two years (maybe more, I forget) and it’s been fun, and I love many aspects of it, but quite frankly I’m not making enough. I’m not sure if a 9-to-5 job is what I want but I’m open to different options.
