I like Faye Valentine

I guess I gave Cowboy Bebop its 2/5 rating a bit prematurely last time, after watching only two episodes. I’m at episode 9 out of 26 now, and as far as I can tell there’s still no plot, but there’s Faye Valentine, and that’s good enough for me. (Finally a hot anime chick that doesn’t make me a pedophile!) Bumping Cowboy Bebop up to 3/5.

Maybe I should give Naruto a chance too. … Nah.

I just realized there’s a Cowboy Bebop movie. Here’s a clip of Faye, wawaweewah! I like!

  • Faye IS ridiculously hot. Once the show explores more of her backstory and stuff, she gets to be more interesting than just a hot space pirate.
Not to give away any spoilers if you havn’t seen the series finale, she starts to show some genuine affection for her crewmates at the end.
Cowboy Bebop kicks some ass, equaling Outlaw Star at LEAST IMO :]

  • I’ve seen the entire series multiple times, and although I’m not sure I would say it has one single all-encompassing plot (nor should it, not many do), it DOES have multiple plots.

I would say Bebop is more about each of the main character’s back-stories. I would say Spike’s past with the syndicates is the ‘main’ plot, with the most amount of dedicated episodes. This is as it should be, as Spike is pretty much the main character.

Faye would probably be second in line, with multiple back-story episodes. This of course means Jet is last, though if you include episodes that include his ties with his ‘previous life’ and previous allies, he is close to Faye, if not ahead of her. He often consults one specific character for information on his bounties.

Even Edward and the “Datadog” have their own episodes that explore their back-stories.

So therefore, THAT is the plot of Bebop, and it truly is a good series. As far as I’ve ever seen, it’s highly regarded as one of the best. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen comments like “it’s good, but it’s no Bebop”, so that should tell you how a good many people feel about it.

Besides the back-stories, there are of course some episodes that simply explain/delve further into the ‘universe’ that this is all happening in, and also some that are purely for entertainment’s sake.

I would hope that maybe seeing all the episodes, and possibly even seeing this comment, might change your opinion of the series. I would rate it a 4.5/5 myself :D
