Day 280: Final post before February

Blogging at The Coffee Bean

Posts are sparse these days be­cause I’m in the mid­dle of mov­ing, and my new place doesn’t have in­ter­net yet. Right now I’m blog­ging from The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf be­cause they have free Wi-​​Fi.

I now live about 10 min­utes from Line 2 Zhongshan Park (中山公园), and 30 min­utes can take me to any part of down­town. It’s won­der­ful. I’ll write about the new place and post pics next month. In the mean­time you can take a look at pics of my old place by Qibao.

Chinese New Year is next week and I’m gonna es­cape to Guilin. I don’t know what CNY will be like over there, but I know it’ll be crazy in Shanghai. I sur­vived it last year but once was enough.

I prob­a­bly won’t make an­other post un­til af­ter I’m back from Guilin, so good­bye for now. And good­bye Qibao!

Day 269: Need to shoot again

The above video of Helen Su is a col­lab­o­ra­tive work be­tween Mike (Studio MTN) and Andrew (AndrewDH Photos). Mike shot and edited the video, and I’m guess­ing Andrew told Helen how much to arch her back and stuff. He prob­a­bly also ate the Skittles.

I’ve been away for about a year, and in that time both these guys have im­proved their work so much while mine re­mained stag­nant. Makes me won­der what my pho­tos would be like now if I had kept shoot­ing. I don’t mean these stu­pid party pho­tos. I mean por­traits. The only por­traits I did in 2008 were of the Blue Dawn Studios staff.

This year I’m gonna start do­ing out­door por­traits again. (No stu­dio shoots since I’ve sold most of my equip­ment.) Gotta try to keep up with these guys. D.Kwan Photography with Chinese char­ac­ter­is­tics is com­ing to Shanghai!

No, I don’t shoot wed­dings. Or your an­noy­ing child.
