Posts are sparse these days because I’m in the middle of moving, and my new place doesn’t have internet yet. Right now I’m blogging from The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf because they have free Wi-Fi.
I now live about 10 minutes from Line 2 Zhongshan Park (中山公园), and 30 minutes can take me to any part of downtown. It’s wonderful. I’ll write about the new place and post pics next month. In the meantime you can take a look at pics of my old place by Qibao.
Chinese New Year is next week and I’m gonna escape to Guilin. I don’t know what CNY will be like over there, but I know it’ll be crazy in Shanghai. I survived it last year but once was enough.
I probably won’t make another post until after I’m back from Guilin, so goodbye for now. And goodbye Qibao!
The above video of Helen Su is a collaborative work between Mike (Studio MTN) and Andrew (AndrewDH Photos). Mike shot and edited the video, and I’m guessing Andrew told Helen how much to arch her back and stuff. He probably also ate the Skittles.
I’ve been away for about a year, and in that time both these guys have improved their work so much while mine remained stagnant. Makes me wonder what my photos would be like now if I had kept shooting. I don’t mean these stupid party photos. I mean portraits. The only portraits I did in 2008 were of the BlueDawnStudiosstaff.
This year I’m gonna start doing outdoor portraits again. (No studio shoots since I’ve sold most of my equipment.) Gotta try to keep up with these guys. D.Kwan Photography with Chinese characteristics is coming to Shanghai!
No, I don’t shoot weddings. Or your annoying child.
I’m in Shanghai again, and I miss the Bay Area already! The photos below are from December 30 to January 1, my last days with my friends there. And the above video is a slideshow overview of my trip. Thanks Bob, Mike, Andrew, Al, family, etc.
