An awesome art website

I have a feeling that people who like art museums have never looked at concept art for movies and video games. Commercial art is so much better than the arbitrary crap they put up in museums.

Just learned about this website: CgHub.com, which “focuses on artists in the entertainment industry, primarily movies (visual effects), television, commercials, animation, games, and illustrators and sequential artists (comics).” I could have been one of them, but photography ruined my life.

And if you’ve never been to DeviantArt.com, be sure to check it out. That’s where I get all my desktop wallpapers.

Anjo also hates Qibao

I’m doing location portraiture again! The last one I did was nearly a year ago, and it was of three ugly guys from San Francisco. Good to shoot at estrogen again.

090111anjo_0116First up is Anjo, a university student who unfortunately had to live by Qibao, way out in Minhang District. I understand the pain she went through.

D.Kwan: Where are you from and when did you move to Shanghai?
Anjo: I am from Wenzhou, Zhejiang province. I’ve been in Shanghai since September 2005. No special reason, just because my school is Shanghai Jiao Tong University (the top one in Shanghai!) but I’m going to graduate soon. I choose to work in Shanghai because I found a job here and I want to try it. Not sure for how long though.

Day 298: Guilin and Yangshuo

Yangshuo

I’m alive! Haven’t updated until now because my new apartment just got internet today. The Coffee Bean has lost a customer.

I went to Guilin and Yangshuo with Bonnie and Jeanne during the one-week Spring Festival break (Jan 25-31, aka Chinese New Year). It rained on and off and was cloudy the entire time until the day we left, but still it was a nice getaway from Shanghai. I hope Bonnie blogs about the trip in more detail because I’m feeling lazy. Pics below.
