I saw on the news that several people have died due to the gas pedal in Toyota cars getting stuck. The news doesn’t say, but this is clearly only happening on automatic transmission cars because on manual cars you just clutch in to disengage the engine and tranny.
Automatic owners: if your accelerator pedal gets stuck,
SHIFT TO NEUTRAL.
In most (maybe all?) automatic cars, when your shifter’s position is in D, you can gently push forward on it and it’ll pop into N. You don’t even need to press that gear shift button.
Get familiar with it. Could save your life!
